Transfer for Graduation Advising: Utilizing Academic Advising to Keep Tranfer Students

Abstract

Academic Advisors from the School of Social Sciences, Humanities, and Arts (SSHA) at UC Merced will present on their action to better serve transfer students upon first contact through graduation.  We will discuss how to create a successful mentor/advisor relationship and how to build upon this relationship through the next two years.  

Speaker Biography

Marsha Bond-Nelson
Marsha is the Academic Advisor and Transfer and Resource Coordinator for the School of Social Sciences, Humanities, and Arts (SSHA) at the University of California, Merced.  She is responsible for helping transfer student success in SSHA by helping oversee and develop transfer programs.  These programs are focused on helping transfer students stay on path to graduate and obtaining their goals of a higher education.

Brenda Maldonado-Rosas
Brenda is the Academic Advisor and Coordinator of Student and Articulation Records for the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts (SSHA) at the University of California, Merced.  She is responsible for organizing and strategizing articulation coordination within SSHA.  Current projects include working with the Transfer Coordinator in SSHA Advising to develop a more efficient process for, but not limited to, community college courses to be articulated within SSHA.
